Water Backup Sump Pump
If you have a basement then you need to make sure you have a water backup sump pump. It’s one of the best investments I have ever made. In the past, I would mop up water and patch leaks in my basement walls during the winter when my basement flooded. I did this in order to keep water out of my basement during a particularly rainy season or when I had flooding. I spent a lot of time doing both and still couldn’t keep the water out of my basement. My next door neighbor was using a water backup sump pump to keep water pumped out from under his house. He suggested I get one for my basement and I am very glad I did. I can now spend time doing other things I need to do instead of worrying about water damage in my basement.
A water backup sump pump works similar to the pluming of a toilet. It has a float that sits in your sump pit and when the water level rises to high, the pump is automatically activated to start pumping the excess water out a pipe that leads to the outside until it reaches the set level again and the pump will shut off automatically. If later the water goes back above the set predetermined level, the pumps will activate and start the process all over again pumping out the excess water.
Most water backup sump pump come in a kit with just about everything you need to install and hook it up to your system. Parts include one way check valves, all your mounting accessories, PVC fittings, screens to keep out objects and debris you don’t need to go into the water backup sump pump and a water alarm to alert you of any high water level situations that may come up. This is a great built in feature because you need to know if water levels are rising in your home so you can take actions to prevent water damage. How much would your home owners insurance go up if you had to file a claim? Would your insurance even cover water damage? MIne doesn't.
Water backup sump pump are easy to install and will protect your home from water damage. If you live in an area that is prone to flooding or you have a basement then buying a water backup sump pump is a very good investment. The pump is a very good investment. Where I live (Miami), most people don't have basements. But my family in other parts of the country tell me that their pump is very helpful and saves them a lot of time.
